Masterpiece Collection | Limited Edition Munenori Hand-Painted Chrysanthemum Tokoname Kyusu

Experience the absolute pinnacle of Japanese tea preparation. Masterfully handcrafted in the historic ceramic city of Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture—one of Japan’s legendary Six Ancient Kilns—this limited-edition side-handled Kyusu is a true individual work of art by the celebrated master potter Munenori. The teapot showcases a striking, hand-painted yellow chrysanthemum (Kiku Hana), a highly revered symbol of longevity and elegance in Japanese culture, set against an unglazed clay body. Formed from Tokoname's world-famous, iron-rich vermilion red clay (Shudei) and fired via precise oxidation, the active minerals in the unglazed interior walls chemically interact with your brew, rounding off the harsh tannic edges and beautifully mellowing the natural bitterness of loose-leaf Sencha. Sized at a personal 200ml capacity and featuring a precision-carved ceramic mesh filter, this exceptional vessel is built to draw out a sweet, perfectly balanced, and award-winning green tea pour.

Premium Collector & Flavor-Refining Features:
  • Astringency Mellowing Shudei Clay: The unglazed inner walls are packed with active iron oxide. During brewing, this mineral structure binds gently with water molecules and tea tannins to reduce harsh astringency and amplify hidden sweet notes.
  • All-Clay Built-in Ceramic Mesh: The interior filter is hand-pierced directly out of the teapot's native clay base. This ensures your hot water completely avoids contact with steel mesh liners, maintaining a flawless, metallic-free green tea flavor.
  • Precision-Fitted Lid Profile: Masterfully hand-turned so that the lid tolerances are incredibly tight. This seals steam completely inside to lock in delicate top-note tea fragrances and allows for a sharp, non-drip pour.
  • Traditional Wooden Tomobako Packaging: Arrives nestled within a custom-fitted traditional Japanese wooden box, establishing an elite presentation standard for luxury gifting or pristine archival storage.
🧼 Unglazed Fine Clay Seasoning & Care Guidelines:

Chemical-Free Maintenance (Water Only): Because Tokoname clay is intentionally left unglazed and porous on the inside, it will absorb chemicals. Never use dishwashing soaps, chemical detergents, or metal sponges. To clean, simply discard wet leaves and flush the interior thoroughly with clean, hot running water immediately after use.
Natural Shudei Patina Development: Over months of dedicated use, the unglazed exterior will slowly absorb natural oils from your hands and tea leaves, building up a deeper, lustrous satin sheen that collectors cherish.
Complete Air Drying: Always store with the lid removed in a well-ventilated, shaded environment. Let the internal clay mesh air-dry fully to prevent trapped moisture or mold formation.
Thermal Protection: Built exclusively for brewing loose tea leaves via pre-heated kettle water. Do not expose to microwaves, baking ovens, or open kitchen range flames.
